Dance Power is a 100% Canadian company based out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We are one of the largest dance competitions in North America and have been in operation since 1992.
We strive to create events that are professional, friendly, on-time and fun for everyone involved.
We work diligently to ensure our events are stress free for the dancers, parents, studio owners and teachers and believe that doing so creates an environment where dancers can "show us their best".
Presently, we operate our events across Western Canada in the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.
Over the years Dance Power has hosted events in the provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. For over a decade Dance Power presented the Western Canadian Finals initially at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Banff, Alberta and then at the Grand Okanagan Resort and Kelowna Community Theatre in Kelowna, BC.
Dance Power teamed up with Triple Threat Dance Conventions in 2002 to host Hawaii Dance Experience in Maui, Hawaii and in 2004 Hawaii Dance Experience II in Honolulu, Hawaii. To celebrate our 20th Anniversary Dance Power Vegas was held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. This event was so popular that two stages ran 14 hours a day for 6 days. The event included a reception for over 1200 dancers and their families and a gala banquet for over 750.
Dance Power annually awards over $100,000 back to the dance community in the form of cash prizes, scholarships and awards.
In addition, we support various children's charities including Breakfast for Learning (www.breakfastforlearning.ca) and are a corporate sponsor of the Angels Anonymous Connection (www.angelsanonymous.org)
We have had the honour and privilege of seeing thousands of dancers grow up on our stages and our alumni includes dancers such as Stacey Tookey, Lisa La Touche, Zac Vran, Taylor Hatala and many others. We have watched dancers mature into professional dancers, teachers and choreographers or studio owners. We have witnessed the incredible growth of the dance industry and the diversity in genres it now enjoys.
Please join us for our 2017 season as we celebrate DANCE POWER 25!
